Tanzania has a vast reserve of pine forestry mosty found in Iringa region. Iringa is renowned for its long history of tree planting activities, dating back to the 1930s when the first government owned Saohill plantation was established in Mufindi District. To-date it remains the epicentre of forest planting and processing and trade in the country. Dominant trees planted include various sub-species of Pine and Eucalyptus. Other than government plantations, there are plantations and commercial woodlots privately owned by either individuals or companies.
